Cancer Support Draw

Back on June 20th, 2015 we started the first bi-annual Cancer Support draw in support of the Terry Ames Care Fund at the Northern Cancer Foundations. We’ve raised over $650,000 to support local families over the last four draws.

Charity Golf

The first two Tee it up for Terry events were set up to help support my own cancer battle. At the second Tee it Up, i told everyone we would be back at Timberwolf for a party when i was cancer free. Well Tee it up for Terry III, was a victory celebration as we shared the moment I was told I was cancer free. At Tee it up for Terry IV we celebrated some of the success stories of our fundraising efforts. And finally at Tee it up for Terry V, we continued to raise funds, celebrate survivor victories, and to introduce Beating Cancer – My Survival Guide. Stayed tuned for our next Tee it up July 20, 2026.

Special Thanks to our Sponsors

About the Charity

It is difficult to understand the financial pressures that a family faces when someone is diagnosed with cancer. Time off work, travel, parking, treatments and diagnostics that aren’t covered by OHIP, can all place a huge burden on family finances. The Terry Ames Care Fund at the Northern Cancer Foundation was set up to help Sudbury families who need financial help so that they could focus on beating cancer.

Why We Started Terry Ames Care Fund

The Terry Ames Care Fund at the Northern Cancer Foundation was set up to help families who needed financial help so that they could focus on beating cancer. As important as this charity is to raise money for families fighting cancer, it’s success has more to do with helping to inspire patients and their families and creating hope where it often can be lost. An appropriate quote comes from one of the Fund’s supporters; “His deepest wish was to inspire random acts of kindness. He hoped that if everyone extended a helping hand to someone in need of love or friendship, food, or shelter, a smile or a visit, ours might be a better world. Please, act generously.”

Thanks, Terry
